'12 Days of Christmas' Round Table Decorating Theme

I need help with some ideas for decorating a round table (seats 8) with the 12 Days of Christmas (song) theme.

This is for Tables of Love at our church, a women's dinner always held in February.

Each table in the room has a different theme and each year gets better and better with such unique ideas.

Please help...

Getting creative...

Hello Fan

Ooh, I must admit I'm feeling a little stumped at such an unusual request...

..but it sounds like a great opportunity for some really artistic and creative ideas...

My first thought would be to have a small (or large as you like for greater impact!!) tree, or branch, as the table centrepiece - representing the pear tree (you can hang a pear, or model pear off one of the branches).

Amongst the branches of the tree you could have hanging, or perched, some of the french hens, turtle doves, colly birds, geese, swans, gold rings... you could have all of the birds mentioned, or just a single representative from each.

Model drummers, pipers, lords, ladies etc could be around the base...

I'm thinking perhaps flat 2D representations on card might be better (for that read: easier!) than finding or creating 3D models - these could still hang from branches, or be made to stand up around the table for a more 3D feel to the decorations...

Another option would be to simply divide a round (paper?) table cloth into 12 (clock-style) and draw or paint in each segment, the contents of each day ...

That would still seem to call-out for some kind of representation of pear tree right in the middle, as the table centrepiece too.

If your overall theme is 'love' could you also embellish the decorations with little red hearts?

Your decorations could also be given a color theme, and spray paint used to color co-ordinate any pieces to give a nice, carefully co-ordinated effect. For a love theme, silver, gold, white, red or pink (glittery?) would seem to be obvious choices.

Take a quick look at some of the results that come up for a Google image search for this subject, and I'm sure you will find something to inspire you and guide you as to style and representation.
