About MeAll about me ... and why I built this site... I thought it was about time I let you know a little bit more about the face behind interior-design-it-yourself.com... So, welcome to my site... My name is Charlotte. I'm actually very proud, as I built this site all by myself - with no prior knowledge of HTML, search engines or website building at all....! I live in Yorkshire, in the UK, with my fiance, Ian, my fluffy ginger cat, Brian, and my retired racing greyhound, Ginger (no, I haven't got the names the wrong way around ... they are both gingers...!)I now work at home - on this website - in my lovely, little country cottage. We live in a Victorian brick cottage, in an old-fashioned, rural village. We have lived here since 2004, after moving from an 70's estate home, in a city suburb - so we really noticed the difference! ... for decorating and in the village lifestyle... We really love our little house - it really is little though... We have had such fun decorating, designing, and making it into our own proper home.
In 2007 I became ill with ME. I have since had to give up work - but it seemed an ideal time, to take some time out to study interior design 'properly'... I wanted to find out what it was that made decorating and designs 'work' - and find out how to give my own interior design something special - that extra zing - the 'wow factor' that professional interior designers always achieve. I really learned so much on my professional interior design course - the processes real interior designers use, to come up with designs that really work, and loads of tips and rules for arranging furniture, space and color. 
I have been so impressed with the results I can now achieve in my own home, and the hints and ideas that I can provide to friends and family who ask for my decorating advice.I wanted to share all this fantastic, useful information with others - and that is how this site was born...
