Accent for Orange

by Samantha
(UK)

Which accent color should I choose to go with orange please?

I think your site is great, but I am just not sure about which color would go best with orange.

Please help.

Thanks very much.

Samantha

Feeling blue?
by: Charlotte

A great accent color for orange is it's 'complementary' - blue - this doesn't have to be a bright blue, it can be pale blue or very deep, whichever you prefer.

Green and blue-green will also look great, as will violet and blue-violet.

If you want something a little less dramatic and more toning, go for yellow-orange or red-orange.

Good luck with your decorating and I hope you have fun

cool and hot
by: Shelley

Hi Samantha

I agree with Charlotte's colors. I like orange with turquoise. My 10 year old son recently chose the colors of his new bedroom; a bright yellow orange for two walls with a bold turquoise on the other two walls. Not particularly peaceful, but the colors work. He also went for a red duvet cover, on which we have turquoise and orange pillow covers.

I also think a reddy-orange works with bold pinks and cherry reds.

In our new post-modern home, our plan is to go with white walls, white glossy tile floor, and tangerine colored sectional on a white shag rug. I think this will work exceptionally well as our living room is surrounded by floor-ceiling windows and we have numerous beautiful trees to look at.

Good luck with your orange!

Thanks
by: Samantha

Hello Charlotte and Shelley

Thanks very much for your comments. The color combinations all sound really wild - but fantastic!!! I would never have thought of them.

Your house sounds great, Shelley. It must be fab to live with so much vibrant color. Your ideas for your living room sound great too - I think the orange will look fantastic against the white, and against all the natural tones in the trees - imagine when it is Autumn too, with all those lovely yellow, orange and brown colors.

I am now trying to decide between putting my orange with a pale blue (with shades of turquoise in it) or a yellowy-orange (to which I could then add further accents of red, I think.)

It is for my kitchen, which has dark cupboards, so I am thinking the bluey-tones will lighten it all up.

But I think I will get some tester pots and try it all out now.

Feeling much more confident.

Thanks for all your help.

Samantha

Try it
by: jolly bahadur

Hi
A very striking combination with orange is maroon. Another one is black. Try it and you will love it.
