The price you pay is always the same, but I will earn a small commission.
In addition I will receive a small commission if you make any enquiry to the US interior design colleges and courses I feature. The enquiry is always free.
This allows me to continue to provide you with the information on this website, all for free.
Please note: I am not responsible for the content of the courses by third party providers, and a listing on this page is not an endorsement of it, or of its suitability for your needs.
Please check the content and suitability of courses out for yourself before enrolling.
To gain my own professional interior design qualification, I studied part-time, by distance learning, with the Open College Network in the UK.
When I first began my interior design diploma, I was a little overwhelmed at all the information and assessments...
But with the help of very good course materials, DVDs and assistance from very helpful tutors, I found it all very interesting...
...and did manage to achieve my nationally recognised interior design diploma.
I found it all so rewarding – both personally and professionally...
...that I am now furthering my knowledge – and my career in interior design, by studying a further interior design diploma, on the same basis.
This one is in Curtain Making and Soft Furnishings – I am not sure I am a natural sew-er - so wish me luck!
But, if I can do it, I am sure you can do it too…
Follow your dreams!
You may have natural talent, style and a real flair for interior design...
But if you really want to get on in a career in interior design, it would really be best to get a professional qualification.
Wherever you are in the world, there is bound to be something for you …
A local evening class?
A course of study at a local college?
An interior design diploma or degree?
Can you commit to full time study, for a number of months or years?
Would a part-time interior design program, over a longer period, suit you better?
…and allow you to stay in your current job, until you have got your career in interior design well-established?
Think about your finances...
Scholarships and grants may be possible.
Or you may need to work a little to keep the money coming in...

Look at traditional, bricks-and-mortar schools and colleges for interior design...
But don’t forget online interior design courses too.
Online interior design courses, and other distance learning interior design programs, are very good for potential interior designers who have other commitments in their lives.
I found my distance learning interior design program very flexible, and easy to fit around my life.
When deciding which interior design program to follow, make sure that you get information from as many colleges for interior design, online interior design courses and other interior design programs as possible.
Look though with an open mind - you never know which colleges for interior design, or online interior design courses, might just suit you perfectly.
In much of the USA and Canada, interior designers need to be licensed, and many will require to pass the exam set by the NCIDQ (National Council for Interior Design Qualification)...
If this applies to the geographical area where you are based, check whether the colleges for interior design, or program you wish to study includes, or prepares you for, the NCIDQ exam.
More about NCIDQ, here...
If you feel this program is not appropriate for you, you can still use many of your interior design skills and qualifications to become an 'Interior Decorator', which is currently not similarly licensed...
