Any ideas?
by: Charlotte

Hello Poojag

What sort of ideas or brief do you have for your project?

How about designing:
-a retro bungalow
-a super-modern, very contemporary bungalow to bring bungalows into the modern age
-an eco-aware bungalow
-a bungalow specially designed for an old person, or a wheel-chair bound inhabitant (bungalows are very popular with older people, and the physically disabled, because of the lack of stairs)

Hope some of these ideas help.

Has anyone else got any ideas to help Poojag?

Bungalow Concept
by: Pauline Finch-Lea

Hello Poojag,

As you are studying INTERIOR design and not Architecture, not too sure what ideas are needed.

If the bungalow is 'small' then 'minimalist' would be an appropriate choice - with concentration on 'free space' so whoever lives in it has plenty of room to move around safely, especially with regard to those who need to use 'wheelchairs' or have mobility problems.

As Charlotte has suggested, a retro design, using sleek designer furniture etc could look awesome;

OR - using warm colours and 'soft' seating, it can be designed for homely comfort.

If there is unlimited finance - I would go for ultra-modern interior design.

Not sure these ideas are very helpful to you, but just a few things to stir your imagination.

Best of luck with the project.

Creative thinking!
by: Charlotte

Hi Poojag and Pauline

Thanks for the great ideas and suggestions Pauline.

Sounds a great little project to get your teeth into Poojag - you'll have to get your creative-thinking cap on!

For such a family I do think something modern would be excellent - and suit the more modern-retro feel of a bungalow really well too.

For the wife who likes to read, and the daughter who is into graphics, perhaps designs with lettering, or quotes from literary works, on walls, or on artwork, fabrics etc might be good?

How about an old-fashioned, retro-glamor feel.... a kind of 'Breakfast at Tiffany's' look?....or classic Hollywood glamor? This would suit the model daughter, and also the 'modern classic retro' feel required in your brief.

For a family that loves to read lots of bookcases are an essential... and how about creating a cosy corner to read in private... perhaps near a lovely real fire?

Perhaps some research into modern architectural concepts would give you a direction you could make your basis ... I would have thought an architect would really require their home to reflect some of their architectural interests in its interior design.

If you like the inspired by peacocks look, why not make this the starting point for your design ... some of the lovely blues and turquoises could look great with that classic Hollywood glamor look I mentioned, whilst still having a really modern feel...

...and graphics of peacock feathers could give the graphics lover some point of interest...

...and could also blend well with any quill and lettering designs you might want to include for the reader in the family!

Hope some of these ideas will help with your project Poojag.

I would consider it a courtesy if you would mention my website in your Bibliography for your project report.

Good luck with your project - let us know how you get on.

Best wishes

Charlotte
