'Decorate'
By H. Becker and J. Copestick

I take a look at 'Decorate' by Holly Becker and Joanna Copestick - and tell you all about it...

'Decorate' is a gorgeous, big, fat, bulging book - crammed with tons of well-shot, beautiful and aspirational photos...

...and (to quote the subtitle): '1,000 inspirational design ideas for every room in your house'...

I didn't count them all to check! ...but the book is certainly a lot more than just another design book, full of glossy photos...

There's certainly a specific look and feel to the book, and a wonderfully aspirational and stylish mood to all of the rooms featured.

The photography is truly beautiful, and it's a book I found myself returning to time and time again, just to browse through the wonderful pictures.

...and I gained far more enjoyment from picking it up from time to time to dip into - making this the perfect inspirational coffee-table book.

The book certainly lives up to its claim of '1,000 inspirational design ideas' and I defy anyone to look through this book, and not be inspired in some way, for their own interior design ideas.

I've already got several creative ideas for upcoming designs and makeovers in my own home, which were sparked off by the gorgeous images in the book (no, I'm not telling you what they are yet - you'll have to wait and see!)

Part 1: Space Matters

Here, the book discusses planning your space - how to use your space to its best advantage, and how to work with your space, not against it!

Small spaces, color tricks, and floors and walls are all discussed.

All the way through the book, real life rooms are used as inspiration, and the relevant design processes are explained in easily digestible tit-bit form, with additional photos, annotated plans and quotes from designers, authors and artists.

Part 2 discusses Setting Your Style

Here, you learn about developing your own sense of style, creating moodboards, and a lovely selection of inspirational style ideas.

Again, the example looks are explained through photos of real rooms, quotes and essential style guidelines, to help you get the look yourself.

...as well as essential storage, ideas for displaying your treasures, and inspiration for expressing your own personality through your home design.

The Final Part - Attention to Detail discusses 'finishing touches' and is my favorite part of the book - the 'pretty bits' - and your chance to really get artistic, and display some of your own special treasures and favorite things in your home.

This section pays special attention to the art of arrangement - which can always be a tricky subject in interior design...

...and also looks at using accessories such as mirrors, lighting, cushions, table settings, flowers and containers, to add your own personal 'final flourish' to your room.

I think you'll get a lot of use out of this - keep it to hand and dip into it often, while you're sat relaxing with a cuppa, or flick through with friends and a lovely glass of wine...
