Too often in the modern world, our homes are overlooked and lacking in privacy - and this doesn't just apply to the neighbours - but to feelings of privacy within the home, and between individual rooms and areas, too. Although you clearly can't move your home away from a busy thoroughfare, or prying neighbours, these interior design tips can do wonders for helping with a feeling of privacy in your home... Interior Design Tips for Overlooked AreasFor homes overlooked by busy roads, or nosy neighbours, your windows and window treatments are a big issue. You can still create privacy in your room, without sacrificing the light coming into your home... Ideas for Window Treatments- Simple voile panels - these are less 'fussy' than net curtains
- 'Cafe curtains' on the bottom half of the window only.

- Roller blinds fitted upside down to the bottom of the window can be pulled half-way up, or all the way.
- Venetian blinds can be twisted for privacy, but still to allow the light in.
- Consider fitting skylights or high level windows, to allow more sunlight in, but keep your privacy.
- Replace the bottom half of windows with frosted glass, or with special frosted transfers or window films.
- A screen or shutters can give a funky alternative to curtains or blinds
- Use plants on windowsills inside, or windowboxes outside to provide pretty screening and privacy.

Within the Home- For privacy within the home, partitioning is an excellent choice, and one of the best interior design tips. This helps to delineate areas for specific tasks, or areas for family individuals.

- Hanging fabric panels or curtains - particularly suitable for use around sleeping areas, or cosy reading or TV areas.

- Full or half height partition walls
- Partition shelving - full or half height.
