Believe me, there are always plenty of questions .... but don’t worry .... we’ll help you find answers here. There are plenty of interior design tips and information on interior design. I cover the principles of interior design, and the processes that I strongly recommend you follow to get that fab magazine cover look!
I always find it best to take a step back, take a deep breath if you like (it’s not compulsory) ...... then, really consider your room, your budget, your needs, yourself and your family - before you plunge right in at the deep end.
I find it’s a good idea to have a checklist to work through - it’s what all the professional interior designers do - and the reason they come up with such great designs.
So anyway, without further ado - here’s the checklist -

- Set your budget
- Fill out a simple questionnaire
- Get inspiration for your design - look at home decorating magazines and the gallery pages on site.
- Generate your own interior design ideas with a mood board
- Choose a color
- Think about proportion in the room
- Consider layout and arranging the furniture
- Think about the lighting design
- Consider your curtains/blinds and other window treatments.
- Further considerations - pattern and texture
- Create a sample board
- Go shopping ........ yipppeeeeee! (Don’t forget to keep your budget in mind)
- Decide on the order of works
- Do it!! ... or better still get someone else to do it for you (yes please)
