It can be difficult to get prints and artwork that aren't just mass-produced and bland... when you've spent all that time and trouble decorating your home, you don't want to spoil it all by slapping up just any old interior design artwork on your walls... No! What you need is... - Something unique, and beautiful.
- You want something to reflect the personality of your carefully designed room
- You also want something to express a part of your own personality...
- Or to make you feel a certain way... for example...
- ...you might want interior design artwork in your bedroom that makes you feel relaxed or sensual
- ...you might want artwork in your bathroom that makes you relaxed - blues, greens and watery scenes are very good for bathrooms
- ...you might want something cheerful and bright in rooms where you want to be happy - bright colors and flowers might do the trick
- ..you might want a picture or print to relax you - look for sky-scapes and sea-scapes with a relaxing feel
- ...you might want to find artwork to inspire you...

With all these possible requirements, it is easy to understand how it can be difficult to find that perfect piece of interior design artwork that fits with your beautifully designed home...You can spend too much time searching in busy poster and print shops, only to end up with something you end up tiring of, as you felt pressured to buy and come home with something to fit your room, rather than just a blank space still on your wall... Choosing your Artwork- Firstly, it is important, especially if you are spending a lot of money, to make sure that you only choose interior design artwork that you really love. Choose art that makes you feel happy, excites you, or relaxes you when you look at it.

- If you have a specific room in mind, you should also take the decorating color scheme into consideration. If your room is blue, you don't necessarily need to choose a predominately blue picture...
You can choose your picture in an accent color so that it really stands out in your room. For example, a suitable accent color in your chosen picture might be browns, yellows, oranges, reds, greens, pinks, purples.... Some ideas for creating color schemes, here... - If you aren't sure which color you want for your artwork, Black and White is always a very good choice, and will always look very striking on your walls. Black and white photographic artwork can give quite a modern and sophisticated, or quite an old-fashioned feel, depending on the individual picture.

- You should also consider whether you want a traditional or a modern feel to your room, and choose your artwork accordingly. A traditional picture in a traditionally styled room (or vice versa) can look very out of place, however beautiful the picture might be!
- Perhaps you don't have a specific room in mind. In this case, you are lucky - just choose the picture you love. You can build up your whole room scheme around your choice of interior design artwork. A beautiful picture is always a good source of inspiration for your decorating color scheme.
- Even if you aren't planning on re-decorating in the near future, if you see a piece of artwork you really love, buy it anyway. You might be able to find somewhere to use it, or you can just save it for your inspiration for your next makeover! (failing all that, give it as a present to a friend!)

Displaying Your Artwork- Try to display your artwork in odd numbers:
- A large single piece in the middle of a wall can be a striking focal point
- Groups of 3 and 5 pictures in a row tend to look more balanced than 2 or 4
- Think about displaying your interior design artwork in blocks - squares of 4, 9 or 16 small(ish) prints can look very dramatic. Try choosing different colors of the same print to give a striking and modern display, with a stylish Andy Warhol feel (Some of the flower or sunset prints in my art gallery would work well with this, see below).
- Consider using prints on a single theme in one room - perhaps a series of seascapes, various images of roses, or orchids etc, would work well together and give maximum impact to the interior design artwork in your room.
- Try using a small room (eg downstairs toilet or bathroom, or a home office) or your hallway and stairs as your own personal art gallery. Small rooms can look great filled with many prints on a similar theme. You can add to your collection over time.
- Buying prints without frames and re-using old frames, or buying your own cheaply can save you a huge amount of money when buying your artwork. Most photos or art look stunning and professional with a simple, black frame and an off-white mount.
- Use the same or similar frames (you can paint them in the same color to make them look more similar and save money) for a smart, ordered feel - or mix and match for a quirky, eclectic look.

My art and photos are my own work, they are very reasonably priced and are not mass-produced, commercial pieces.
