Orangey tones...?
by: Charlotte

Hi Jane

Your home sounds great and very smart and sophisticated.

Green is obviously an easy color choice, to co-ordinate with the green tones you already have - you can chose different shades of green (pale or dark), and different mixes, perhaps a bluey-green, or a zingy lime green...?

...but if you want to move away from the greens dominating the color scheme, using reds and oranges can give you a bright, modern but welcoming feel in your room.

It should help brighten up the dark tones in the black, and help warm up the room - if your room is small though, choose paler tones.

These can be applied throughout the room, or as an accent combined with more neutral tones, as you wish.

A dark or mid-toned wood floor would work with both of these options - look out with one with warm, orangey tones to work with any orange tones, and/or to contrast against the greens.

Unless you keep the rest of your room pale and neutral too, a pale wood floor may provide too much contrast with the dark furniture you already have - although this may actually be a look you wish to go for - in which case do choose very pale (but warm, yellows, oranges, beiges etc) tones for the rest of your decor.

Hope this helps you with some ideas for how you might decorate your room, Jane.

Wishing you very good luck with your home makeover, and please come back and Show us the photos of how you got on...

Best wishes

Charlotte :o)
