My Horse Bedroom
by PB
(US)
bed- made for me- from Colorado- made of Aspen - King size bed
My steel cut cowboy lamp
Horse carved armoire
Using my beautiful tack trunk as a table
The bed is King size made of Aspen.
I had been planning on moving to Arizona, then it fell through so this bed was for our new home. It did not fit up the stairs in our current home, so it's now in the guest room/horse room.
The lamp is made of steel, the night stands are from Target, the armoire was a lucky find from a store in California. Oh, the tack trunk is a gorgeous piece made of wood. It has built in shelves inside. I cleaned it & now it works great as a table. ................... Commentby Charlotte26 October 2011 Thanks so much for sharing your gorgeous horse-theme bedroom, PB. I love it - it's very unusual and a very tastefully done theme. It's subtle and simple and yet a definite theme and style. I think even non-horse-lovers would love the look - and if you do like horses, it must be horsey interior design heaven. You have some lovely and quality individual pieces that work well together, and a great unified color scheme. I love how the colors in the bedding and your small vase set match perfectly - and you still managed to find bedding with a horse motif on, too. Great attention to detail in all your pieces - loving the cowboy lamp too! Very well done - I love it. Thank you so much for sharing your lovely bedroom. Best wishes Charlotte :) If you like this look you might like a western home decorating look or a southwestern interior design styleYou might find Angie's cozy country cabin or wildlife feel question helpful... Nov 17, 2010 Lovely! by: Charlotte
Hi Linn
What a lovely room - a nice neutral color scheme with some warm, cosy touches with the warm accents.
And yes without sheers, nets or blinds you have lots of light flooding in, which will help to keep the room nice and light and airy.
Looks like you can make the most of that nice garden view too?
Looks a lovely relaxing room - I like it!

Jan 09, 2011 Shades of Brown by: Anonymous
Gee Linn, wish I had all those windows! I get one, but someday that will change.
What I like best about your living room is that you can easily change it's atmosphere with color.
My youngest keeps telling me brown is the new neutral and it really is with this great room you did.
Pat yourself on the back.

Jan 10, 2011 Lucky Linn! :o) by: Charlotte
Lovely isn't it, Linn is a lucky lady to have so many big windows - bet she's got a great view to look out onto too!
Wonderful room - and brown does make a great color choice for any room - warm but not too in-your-face! Very easy to live with and adapt with other accent colors, according to taste!
Thanks for your comments Gib - and well done Linn for creating such a gorgeous room!

Rustic Cabin Living Room
by NorthPoint Design
(Hayward, WI)
Rustic Cabin Living Room
This room is in a small lake cabin. We wanted the feeling of comfort and a "lived in" feel but were limited on space.
With dark leather, plaid rug and stone fireplace we achieved a rustic look without it being overbearing.
Comments:
Mmmm - love the look!
Very cosy and welcoming!

Living room .. holiday rental in Barbados
by Jane Shattuck
(Barbados)
St Lawrence Gap, Barbados vacation rental
Hi! I'm an American living in Barbados. I have purchased two fairly modest rental apartments that have great sea views. But people need more than a view, don't they? They need to feel comfortable and they need to see the place as something special.
My challenges:
1. The rental apartments are basically concrete shoe boxes with no inherent architectural interest whatsoever.
2. The selection of home-decorating items (furniture, lamps, artifacts) is minimal and very expensive for what you get.
3. My budget is tight.
4. I'm not a professional interior designer; I just do it on my own because I love a challenge :) AND, like I said, I have too tight a budget to hire professionals.
You can view before/after shots of the holiday rental I just purchased on my blog: http://onelovebarbados.com/?s=rolling+the+dice
I love this site, Interior Design It Yourself, and have want to contribute for awhile. So here goes ... hope you like this.

Black and White Beachy Bedroom
by Trista
(Virginia Beach, VA)
This room was an ugly off-white that had never been touched.
All my stuff is black and white and I live by the beach, so I wanted to keep it beachy... still need an accent color though!
I'm thinking sea foam green, maybe for an area rug, chandelier, and something on another wall?
(In this photo, hadn't painted the trim yet)
Comments: Hi Trista
I love the look in your bedroom - very simple and sophisticated.
I like it as it is, so if an accent color is still wanted I think you should keep it very minimal.
The sea-foam green you suggest sounds a good choice...
...or how about a slate-blue?
...or, looking at the hat on the end of the bed, I think a lovely, soft, sandy beige/yellow would set it off nicely with a tranquil, beachy feel - and a warming feel to keep your room feeling welcoming.
Thanks for sharing your room with us - I think it looks fantastic already :)
