Needing some advice on color and decorations?

I've bought a house and I love the color of the kitchen already.

It's a deep, wine burgundy in color and I'm wanting to decorate using sunflowers. I was just wondering if sunflowers would match the burgundy color?

What colors would go good with burgundy?

Hello Candi

Your new kitchen sounds great!

Sunflowers should go well, as they have the brown, orangey and yellow tones that can blend well with this color...

...if you aren't sure, why not test out a single sunflower to see how it looks with the color, and if you like the effect it produces.

I think you should try to find sunflowers and sunflower products that have a warm, orangey look and feel - and steer clear of colder, harsher yellows that may not go so well with your background color.

If it's struggling a bit - try pulling the look together with a few orangey/russett tones in a few pieces, to link the yellow and burgundy colors together.

Popular colors to mix with a burgundy are neutrals - either pale creams and whites, or darker beiges, taupes and browns.

You could mix with other warm tones - reds, oranges, yellows, red-violets...

...or go for a striking opposite with greens.

You have lots of options to choose from, so you needn't worry about finding a look you like.

If you like sunflowers, try that out first, and see how you like it.

colors that work with a deep wine color

I suggest keeping the colors on the warm family.

Sunflowers have many shades of gold, yellow, brown and then green. Many colors to grap from.

I need to ask..is this room on the traditional or the contemporary side?

Do you have windows, what color is the cabinets and counter tops?

What are you wishing to use as accent pieces, because I have found it can change the look you wish to achieve.

Is there a kitchen table with chairs, or a breakfast bar.

My current kitchen is done on a similar basis, I happen to have used red, golds, and greens.
