Positioning a Plasma TV in the Living room

I am replacing my TV with a plasma and am not sure if I should wall mount it or what. Any ideas/help would be appreciated, thanks.

Flat Screen Issues to Consider...

Hi Linda

Wall-mounting your new TV is one of a number of options...

It's great to take advantage of that slimline shape, and free-up some floor space by putting the TV on the wall.

Above the fireplace is a popular spot - out of the way, and it keeps your 2 main living room focal points together...

However, a TV isn't always the prettiest thing that you'd want on display over your fireplace...

...many people want to hide it rather than put it on display!

You should also think about comfort when watching too - apparently the most comfortable level to position your TV for watching is at eye-level (when seated in your favorite TV watching chair!) or just below eye-level...

...so do bear this in mind when you are choosing your spot.

Perhaps one of the newer media centers would be suitable - this has a large (usually quite low down) space for a plasma or LCD TV screen, plus extra storage for some of the other paraphernalia that seems to accompany it these days...?

I did a quick search for some on eBay and came up with quite a selection...

I think some of the larger ones are really great ideas for keeping the TV and other entertainment and electronic equipment very neatly stored in your living area.

You might also find the following information helpful, with information about screen sizes and ideal viewing distances - so that you can position your new TV at a comfortable viewing distance - click here...
