Small Studio Apartment

I moved in to this smaller than usual studio apartment,my problem is how do arrange my shoes and clothes in the room and still keep everything clean.

What ideas do you also have for a bed?

I'm in a dilemma.

Thanks for your question and your kind comments about my site.

Congratulations on moving into your new home - hopefully we'll soon have everything sorted and feeling homely for you.

Living in a small space can be tricky - and you will need to be disciplined about not allowing clutter to build up, and clever in planning your storage originally.

Storage is of course the most important factor when trying to cram your belongings into a small space.

Presumably you don't want to waste precious space with big bulky furniture - but some custom built furniture may be right - are there any small corners, nooks and crannies you can fit some extra storage in? Or add some extra shelves somewhere - open shelves don't seem to look so imposing as cupboards, sometimes.

I think a good idea might be some flexible storage like these below... you can get some where you can wheel the whole wardrobe around to suit how you want to organise the space, even at different times of the day...

... or you could fit your own hanging rail, and add storage bags to suit your own needs.

These will also help keep the clothing clean and dust free.

For your bed, have you thought about combining seating and bed, with a sofa-bed, futon, or just a bed pushed up to the wall and piled with colorful cushions?

Or you could think about a loft bed - so that you could put a table or something underneath.

Or a bed that folds into the wall to save more space.

Keep colors light, with bright accents to keep it feeling spacious and cheery - and make good use of mirrors and glossy surfaces to further spread light around the room.

Some of these ideas for decorating small spaces and how to organize clutter may also help you plan your small studio apartment living.
