This is not a 'how-to' guide, but it does help you to choose the right style for your home (although the emphasis on the book is quite traditional).

This is a really easy book to use. It gives really good, practical advice, suitable for beginners and professionals alike.

Curtains For Beginners (Seams Sew Easy)

This is ideal for beginners - very simple instructions and helpful, step-by-step photos. It was really easy-to-follow, and spiral bound - so it will lie flat next to you while you are sewing.

Definitely a recommended read for any beginners out there.

A great book for inspiration, but not so good for practical DIY tips - a lovely 'coffee table book'.

Beautifully illustrated, and packed with inspiring window treatments, details of fabric types and handy yardage calculator charts. Loads and loads of design ideas, but not so good on the details of construction, and simple 'how-to' instructions.

A fantastic inspiration book for curtain makers who already know what they are doing with the basics.

500 great ideas, for all different styles, windows and budgets. Photos and illustrations help you along with the instructions for each project.

The Curtain Sketchbook 2

A book designed for designers - shows hundreds of designs for curtains, blinds, cushions and other window treatments in simple line sketches.

Beautifully done, and indispensable for those in the trade - but don't buy this unless you know what you are doing, as it does not include instructions. But it is a great book for inspiration.
