Turning my Website into a Business

My 'Secret'...

I want to tell you all about ’My Story’, as I am so pleased and proud of what I have achieved…

My Story…

I had been suffering from M.E. for several months, following a nasty bout of flu, in January 2007.

Although I had tried returning to work, it was making my illness much worse.

It was becoming clear, both to myself, and especially to my employers, that I was nowhere near well enough to do the job they wanted me to do…

At that point, I began to investigate work at home opportunities on the internet – what I found was a load of exaggeration and scams (to put it politely!)...

I did actually try a few out, but soon realised that this kind of ‘get-rich-quick’ scheme was not at all what I was looking for…

I wanted something real… a genuine opportunity that I could work at, and succeed at - without falling for scams, wasting my time or spending a lot of money…

I first discovered S.B.I. – the company which hosts my website – on an M.E. website.

The website owner told her own story, of how she was able to build her site, even though she was still ill with M.E. She told how the site actually made her money, and was enabling her to live an independent life.

Of course, I investigated further - but was very impressed by everything they offered – especially the proof...!

I did still deliberate for some months, while I looked into all my other possibilities – then decided to go for it...

After all, S.B.I. were so upfront about absolutely everything, and actually gave me proof of real people who had succeeded with S.B.I.

Although I had read all about the S.B.I. company and ethos, doubter that I am, I was actually really surprised when it really started to work for me too!

Sure enough, I built pages easily, traffic grew, and my site made me money...

All this from someone still sick with M.E. – and with absolutely no website building knowledge…

A couple of years on, my site is inside the top 1% of all websites worldwide - that’s ALL websites, and not just the interior design ones! (Source: Alexa.com)

And guess what … this kind of success is by no means unusual amongst thousands of happy S.B.I. owners and fans…

Why shouldn't you do this too...?

I have thousands of visitors to my website every day (around 3-4 thousand now, most days)...

...and now receive cheques from Google, and other advertising and affiliate companies, for hundreds of dollars, every month.

I Love My S.B.I.

The best thing about building my site with S.B.I. is that it has allowed me to work from home.

I am still nowhere near in a fit enough state, to work even part time, in a traditional job...

...but I can earn money with S.B.I. for a few hours work, each week – and I keep earning money even if I have to take time off sick!

I really appreciate that my ‘job’ now means that I can work only the hours I want and am able.

I have regained my personal sense of worth and purpose that all came tumbling down, as I sat at home, alone and ill…

There really is a special prize inside every purchase of S.B.I.

My new 'job' has allowed me to get the dog I always longed for – but could never have, because of my long hours at work.

Now, whenever I like, I am free to play with the dog, or walk him in the sunshine outside (...weather permitting)...

My life is completely my own again – and I am working on something I love!

Sometimes, (well, most of the time) it doesn’t even really feel like work. I can easily slot a couple of hours work into a weekend – just because it is more like a fun hobby for me than ‘work’!

And yes, I think that working on my website has helped my M.E. too!

I have improved no end, and am still improving every day…

In fact, health and business are all going so well, that I am now building a further S.B.I. site - all about the Yorkshire coastline I love...

UPDATE - November 2010: I'm now free from ME/CFS symptoms after attending a fantastic training course (called The Lightning Process) which really helped me to see the last of those old symptoms...

...now I'm full of energy and concentrating on decorating the house and building a new garden...

...and very busy preparing for my new SBI website project - a website about garden design as an annex to this interior design one...

...I've been studying garden design for the past year in preparation, and now I'm really happy that I can have the energy to put in place those long-planned visions for my little garden...

...still working on this website, and making the time for trips to the Yorkshire coast at the weekend to work on my Yorkshire Coast one too....

...so I hope you'll continue to find lots of useful info here to help you in your own interior design projects...

...and that you'll be looking out for my garden design website appearing in the coming months too....

UPDATE: - August 2011 - still free from my ME/CFS symptoms (Hurrah!)

My websites are all going well - you can visit my new garden design website, here which is now up and running nicely...

...and not content with that, I'm about to start on a 'sister website' for my Yorkshire Coast website, all about my home-town of York!

I'm going to be busy, busy, busy!




UPDATE: - October 2011 - My interior design books are now released...

Volume I: Back to Basics is out now...

...and I'm working hard on Volumes II and III.

I hope they'll be out in the new year.
